Privacy notice

What we collect when you contact us, why we have it, how long we keep it, and how to make us get rid of it. In plain English, like everything else here.

Last updated date — TBC

This is a working draft. It accurately describes what this website does today, but it has not been reviewed by an attorney and the company details below are still to be filled in. Have it checked before you rely on it — see PLACEHOLDERS.md.

Who we are

BritecIT (“we”, “us”) provides managed IT support to small and medium businesses from Stow, Ohio. This notice covers this website and the inquiries that come through it.

What this website collects

This site sets no cookies, runs no advertising and does no cross-site tracking. There is no login and no account. Information reaches us two ways:

1. The contact form

If you fill it in, you give us:

At present the form sends nothing to a server of ours. It opens your own email program with the message ready for you to send, so the inquiry arrives as an ordinary email and this website stores nothing at all. If we later connect the form to a submission service, we will update this notice and name that service before we switch it on.

2. Server and analytics data

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details in order to serve the page and protect it from attack, and keeps those logs briefly. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without fingerprinting and without building any profile of you. We see aggregate numbers only — how many people viewed a page, roughly what part of the world from, which link brought them. We cannot identify you from it.

Fonts are served from this website itself rather than from Google Fonts, so loading this page sends no request to Google.

How we use it

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do not share it with anyone for their own advertising or marketing. We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it; if we ever do send any, every message will carry a working unsubscribe link, as CAN-SPAM requires.

Who else sees it

Only the people at BritecIT who need it, and the vendors who run the systems we use to do business — our email provider (Microsoft 365) and our website host (Cloudflare). They process it on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes. We will disclose information if the law requires it, such as a subpoena or court order, and not otherwise.

How long we keep it

How we protect it

This site is served only over HTTPS, with HSTS and a strict Content-Security-Policy. Inquiry email is held in Microsoft 365 with multi-factor authentication on every account. No system is perfect, but if personal information of Ohio residents is ever compromised we will notify affected people as Ohio Rev. Code § 1349.19 requires, and follow the equivalent law in any other state involved.

Your choices

Whatever state you live in, you can email [email protected] and ask us to:

We will respond within 45 days and there is no charge. Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy statutes — California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and a growing list of others — may have additional statutory rights depending on whether those laws apply to a business our size. Rather than work that out case by case, we extend the rights above to everyone who asks.

Children

This is a business-to-business website. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information — connecting the contact form to a submission service, for instance — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
